Bola Club Vol. 3
Sunday 15 December
10AM until late
The meaning ‘bola’ comes from the Indonesian language, translating to ‘ball’. Bola Club was created as a community driven initiative to do good and to have fun.
We take pride to be part of the local community and it is our obligation to close the circle to do good by giving back.
Each year we select a local charity to support and create a friendly ball related competition around it. The main focus is the chosen charity for the event where a platform is created to spread awareness and encourage donations throughout the day.
The campaign #lautbukantempatsampah meaning ‘the ocean is not a rubbish bin’ was originally founded by Femke den Haas. Femke is one of the founders of Jakarta Animal Aid Network, JAAN is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established in January 2008 to help protect Indonesian wildlife and to improve the welfare of domestic animals. The campaigns Dolphin project and the dogmeat trade are just a few of the (now) globally recognized campaigns JAAN is advocating against
Whilst in Pulau Seribu Femke witnessed the eagles that had just been released catching plastic in the ocean and on the beach. It was then when she began the campaign #lautbukantempatsampah to educate and teach the locals on the island about the waste that is landing and spreading within the surrounding nature. The campaign gained global impact as the awareness for plastic and environment is a pressing topic for the past few years.
